Book Festival Day 1

Schools’ Day includes Fantastically Great Women Scientists & Their Stories with Kate Pankhurst as she tells the stories of Mae Jemison, Elizabeth Blackwell and more. Alex Wharton has Daydreams & Jellybeans: Poems To Read Aloud, and Piers Torday wants to save the world with The Wild Before.

In the evening, Stuart Lawrence believes Silence Is Not An Option: You Can Impact The World For Change with inspiring advice about the tools that have helped him live positively, and kept him moving forwards in tough times. Jay Griffiths asks and answers Why Rebel, a passionate, poetic manifesto for urgent rebellion in the context of the climate emergency, and a meditation on the deep and extraordinary beauty of the living world, and the politics of kindness.

(Events take place all around Stroud.)
